This update provides the latest in senior appointments, promotions, retirements, company news and more across the offshore energy industry.

Offshore staff

HOUSTON — Ithaca Energy's CEO Alan Bruce will step down from his role to pursue new opportunities, after leading the company through a successful IPO and first year as a listed company. Until a new CEO is appointed, Iain Lewis will fulfil a dual role of interim CEO as well as continuing as CFO.  Read more. 

Remote operations company Remota introduced its new CEO, Sveinung Soma, this week.

Shoreline Wind, developer of intelligent SaaS solutions for powering wind energy, has appointed Andrew Pearson its new CEO.

APA Corp. has promoted Stephen J. Riney to president and CFO. Read more. 

Oceaneering International Inc. has appointed Hilary Frisbie to succeed Mark Peterson as senior director, investor relations.

Holiday Island Holdings Inc., which recently renamed itself EP3, has added Glenn Klinker to the executive staff as the company’s COO. He will be responsible for the oil and gas operations. 

IFS, a cloud enterprise software company, has promoted Mark Moffat to CEO. Moffat takes over from Darren Roos who has been appointed as the company’s chair of the board. 

Deloitte has appointed Teresa Thomas vice chair, Deloitte LLP, and national sector leader for energy and chemicals. Thomas also serves as an advisory partner and leader in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s Risk & Financial Advisory energy and chemicals practice. Thomas succeeds Amy Chronis, partner, Deloitte LLP, who will continue to serve within the energy and chemicals practice until her retirement in June 2024.

Westwood Global Energy Group's Terry Childs is retiring. He has more than 40 years of experience analyzing the offshore rig market. He started his career with IHS-Petrodata legacy company Offshore Data Services, followed by a period marketing rigs for Ensco Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. He then returned to the market intelligence side of the business, with further positions at DrillingInfo and RigData before joining the RigLogix team at Rigzone in 2014. Childs led operations from 2016, which continued after the acquisition of RigLogix by Westwood in 2018, through to mid-2023.

The Acorn co-venturers have appointed Nic Braley to lead the Acorn Transport and Storage joint venture, which consists of Storegga, Shell UK, Harbour Energy and North Sea Midstream Partners. Read more. 

Valeura Energy Inc. has appointed Anna Green an independent director.  

Simen Flaaten has notified Prosafe that he wants to resign as director as soon as practicable possible due to other commitments. Flaaten has been a member of the board of directors since June 2023. Flaaten’s resignation has been accepted, and he will remain on the board until a director to replace him has been elected. 

Beach Energy Ltd. has advised that Brett Woods will commence in the role of managing director and CEO Jan. 29, 2024, which is about three weeks earlier than originally anticipated. Clement will continue as interim CEO until Jan. 28. Following a short handover period, Clement will then continue as a director of Beach in a non-executive capacity. 

C-Innovation, an affiliate of Edison Chouest Offshore and its family of companies, has promoted Rebecca Dufour to commercial manager. 

NDT Global has appointed Ranbir Saini senior vice president of products.

The G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation has named David Griffiths its new chair.

Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) has welcomed two energy experts to its growing board of directors. CEA’s new directors are Michelle Michot Foss, Ph.D., a fellow in energy, minerals and materials at Rice University’s Baker Institute, and Chett Chiasson, executive director of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission.


 

OBITUARY:

Deepwater marine pipeline design expert John G. Bomba, P.E. passed away in August 2023. He was 91 years old.

Over the years, Bomba worked for R. J. Brown and Associates and various acquiring firms in the industry including Kvaerner, Aker, Coeflexip, Stena, Genesis Oil, and Technip.

He was heavily involved in various professional organizations and was recognized for his contributions. He was an American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Life Member and Fellow; a Distinguished Diplomate of the Coasts, Oceans, Ports & Rivers Institute (COPRI); and a Fellow with the Marine Technology Society.

He served in various roles in the planning and execution of the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) and received the OTC Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals in May 2017.

He is survived by his wife Jane K. Bomba, his daughters Anne Bomba, Marian Thomas, Beatrice Bomba, and Norma Ohlenbusch, as well as seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.


 

Company News

Harbour Energy has reached an agreement with BASF and LetterOne, the shareholders of Wintershall Dea AG, for the acquisition of substantially all of Wintershall Dea’s upstream assets for $11.2 billion. Read more. 

Cadeler and Eneti combined operations Dec. 23 to form an enlarged offshore wind installation contractor, which is now listed on the New York and Oslo stock exchanges. The combined group, to be named Cadeler, is based in Copenhagen, with offices elsewhere in Denmark, the UK, US, Taiwan and Japan. Read more. 

DeepOcean has acquired digitalization specialist Btwn AS based in Sandnes, southern Norway. Read more. 

Velocity Partners, a private equity firm focused on the energy and industrials sector, has acquired Moreld Apply, Moreld Ross Offshore and Moreld Global Maritime (collectively the Moreld consortium). Read more. 

Gebrüder Weiss is expanding its network in Australia with the opening of a new Air & Sea office in Brisbane. This is the third location operated by the international logistics company in Australia, following Sydney and Melbourne.

Holiday Island Holdings Inc. is changing its name to EP3 (Enhanced Petroleum Extraction Enterprises Inc.), commensurate with its new pursuits in the oil and gas industry.

Liberty Green Logistics LLC, an offshore wind supply chain company, acquired Renewable Strategy Ltd., a digital platform offering marine coordination software, asset monitoring, emissions tracking, personnel records tracking, Global Wind Organization training, consultancy and analytical solutions to the renewables and maritime industry. 

HydroWing has opened a new office in Wales to support the development of its tidal stream energy project at Morlais on Anglesey.

Technology company Xergy has opened new offices in Perth, Australia, and Dundee in Scotland. The new offices have created 10 new roles, taking Xergy’s total workforce to 34.
