Cargotec kit in demand for anchor-handlers

Bourbon Offshore has ordered four MacGregor anchor-handling systems from Cargotec for new anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels under construction by Sinopacific Group in China.

HELSINKI, Finland -- Bourbon Offshore has ordered four MacGregor anchor-handling systems from Cargotec for new anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels under construction by Sinopacific Group in China.

The vessels are based on the SPA80 design developed jointly by Bourbon and Shanghai Design Associates. All anchor-handling equipment sets are due to be delivered in 2011.

Cargotec says it also has secured further orders from various shipyards, including equipment for three anchor handling tugs being built at Sapor Shipbuilding Industries, Malaysia.

The company is supplying systems for two more newbuilds in Chinese yards – a 45-m (147-ft) long anchor handling offshore support tug at GMG International Shipbuilding & Trading, and a 60-m (197-ft) anchor handling offshore support vessel at Fujian Crown Ocean Shipbuilding Industry. Co. Deliveries for these two vessels are scheduled for Q1 2011.
