DORSET, UK -- Hamworthy is supplying inert gas systems on four Total FPSOs offshore Africa. Each vessel has a storage capacity of 2 MMbbl barrels.

Hamworthy Moss’s contract includes P/V breakers and control systems for all four installations. Three vessels will feature Hamworthy deck water seals. All systems are skid-mounted and located in the topside hazardous area.

Offshore Angola, the company has completed commissioning of the inert gas system on the FPSO Dalia and delivered a system to the FPSO Pazflor.

Offshore Nigeria, the already commissioned FPSO Akpo has reached the first oil stage. The company conducted full-scale testing, before delivering a system to the FPSO Usan in the same region.

“These packages are part of an FPSO’s topside installation, contrary to the common belief that the inert gas system is usually located inside an engine room and a part of the hull system,” says Odd Ivar Lindløv, manager of Hamworthy Moss offshore business unit.
