OSLO -- Dresser-Rand has awarded Grenland Group a $3.7 million contract for the assembly of four generator sets for BP's floating production ships bound for block 31 in Angola.

The gas turbines are of the same kind used in Boeing 747 planes, the company says. The 6-ton (5.4-metric ton) turbines are produced in titan, and delivered by General Electric. The complete generator set weighs 170 tons (154 metric tons) and consists of a gas turbine, a generator, and other equipment in a steel frame including air intake.

The generator sets will be delivered by the end of the year.
