ABERDEEN, Scotland -- Opus Maxim has completed a project to commission its skid mounted Compact Flotation Unit (CFU), supplied to a major international oil and gas company.

Opus designed, constructed, and installed the unit onboard one of the client's oil platforms, which is located in the Danish region of the North Sea. According to Opus, the CFU will enhance the environmental performance of the platform and improve the quality of produced water discharged to the sea.

As part of the project, Opus also provided analysis equipment to measure the performance of the CFU during optimization.

The CFU treats 500 cu m/h of produced water, reducing the oil in water content to below 15 ppm, and the system, which treated from around 50 cu m/h to 750 cu m/h of produced water during the commissioning process, maintained stability during high levels of turndown, the company says.
