Spinnaker controls High Island 47 fire

Spinnaker reports that it has extinguished a fire at its High Island Block 47 "A" platform facility without loss of life or extensive damage.

Spinnaker reports that it has extinguished a fire at its High Island Block 47 "A" platform facility without loss of life or extensive damage. The fire occurred at 7:50 a.m., yesterday during maintenance operations and was limited to an area adjacent to and including the natural gas metering shack. Two contract personnel received non-life-threatening injuries and two others were evacuated unharmed. The producing well was shut-in immediately and there was no sign of pollution.

Spinnaker personnel and safety workers have re-boarded the platform and begun an investigation. The facility is located approximately 18 mi south of Sabine Pass, Texas, in the Gulf of Mexico. The company is uncertain how long the facility will be shut-in.
