COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- MAN Diesel has signed a new license contract with Chinese company Wuxi Antai Power Machinery to deliver small-bore MAN B&W two-stroke engines to small yards.

The engines will have cylinder diameters up to 46 cm (18 in.) and will be targeted at bulk carriers and tanker vessels for domestic trade.

"Since the beginning of the 1980s we have had license agreements with three state-owned engine builders at Shanghai, Yichang and Dalian," says Peter Sunn Pederson, president of MAN Diesel A/S. "And earlier this year we signed a license contract with CMD (CSSC-MES Diesel Co. Ltd.) near Shanghai."
