PARIS -- Uhde has awarded Cegelec a $40-million EPC contract to design and construct a blast-proof control building for QAPCO’s low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant in Mesaieed, Qatar.

Under a previous contract in 2008, Cegelec carried out the basic design of the control building, including ergonomics, structural, and architectural design.

As part of the new contract, Cegelec will relocate and upgrade all systems related to the existing plant, including emergency shutdown, distributed control systems, closed-circuit television, fire and gas detection, and extinction, as well as public address and general alarm.
