Maersk, CNR renew platform contracts

Facilities management specialist Petrofac to remain in charge of seven North Sea platfiorms.

(Europe) - Two UK North Sea operators are set to extend contracts with platform facilities management specialist Petrofac.

Maersk Oil, which recently took over operatorship from Kerr-McGee of theGryphon, Janice and Global Producer 111 floating production platforms, has extended Petrofac's current contract for these facilities through late 2006.

The company also has a letter of intent from CNR International (UK) to provide operations support services for four fixed platforms on the Ninian and Murchison fields.

CNR has operated these assets since December 2002; Petrofac has managed production on the platforms since the mid-1990s.

The latest extensions, initially for five years from 2006, have an estimated value of $20 million.
