BJ Services announced thatJames Curtis has been appointed technical manager with the Well Services Division - Europe and Africa region. Curtis, who brings 16 years experience in the oil industry, is responsible for providing technically sound and commercially viable solutions for the upstream sector throughout the Europe/Africa region in the areas of production enhancement, reservoir conformance, coiled tubing, sand control, zonal isolation, and completion services.

PolyOil, the designer and developer of polymer oilfield well products, has been awarded a contract byStatoilto supply a Poly-Tector control line protector for use in the Gulltopp production well, 5 mi west of the Gullfaks field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

CCSIhas a polyurethane foam (PUF) field joint infill order from Global Industries Offshore’s wholly owned subsidiary,GIL Mauritius Holdings Ltd.The 20-in. offshore pipeline project being constructed by Global is for the China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) and is part of the Panyu/Huizhou gas development project.

TenarisandSandvik Materials Technology have been awarded contracts to supply the majority of the corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) needs for the Qatar Gas 3 & 4, and Qatar Shell GTL Pearl projects in the North Field, offshore Qatar. The orders, totaling approximately 6,000 metric tons, are for seamless production tubing in Sandvik Sanicro 28 with TenarisBlue premium connections, which will be delivered over the next three years. A strategic alliance signed two years ago by the companies lead to the development of CRA materials (13Cr and 25Cr) with TenarisBlue Dopeless connections, as well as other made-to-order specialty products

RockBit International has appointed four drill bit sales personnel. The additions to the firm includeJohnny Everett, Justin McMillan, Wayne Bailey and Tim Brower. Everett, vice president of sales for North America, has over 25 years of industry experience including senior positions at Reed Tool Co. and Smith International, while McMillan, director of international sales, joins RBI from Wood Group ESP where for the past six years he was integral in the expansion of the company’s global markets. Bailey, region manager - southern United States, has over 20 years oilfield drill bit experience and was most recently a general manager with Smith. Brower, who also joined the company from Smith, is the new region manager - northern United States.
