TechnipFMC to supply subsea systems for latest Thunder Horse expansion

BP has awarded TechnipFMC an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation subsea contract for the Thunder Horse South Expansion Phase 2 project in the Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON – BP has awarded TechnipFMC an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (iEPCI) subsea contract for the Thunder Horse South Expansion Phase 2 project in the Gulf of Mexico.

TechnipFMC will supply and install subsea tree systems, manifolds, flowline, umbilicals and subsea tree jumpers, pipeline end terminations, subsea distribution and topside control equipment.

The Thunder Horse field is in Mississippi Canyon blocks 776, 777, and 778, in the Boarshead basin, 200 km (124 mi) southeast of New Orleans, in a water depth of 1,830 m (6,004 ft).

Earlier this year BP awarded the company an iEPCI contract for the Atlantis Phase 3 project in the same sector.
