LONDON – Vantage Drilling has agreed to delay its planned mobilization of the jackup Topaz Driller to Cameroon to July.
Tower Resources contracted the rig to start operations from late May on the Thali block offshore Cameroon.
The company is in the final stages of planning the shallow-water NJOM3 appraisal well on the Total-discovered Njonji oilfield.
This will be drilled to a TD of 1,100 m (3,609 ft), penetrating at least three reservoir zones identified by the NJOM1B and NJOM2 discovery wells, with a view to confirming greater reservoir thicknesses in the up-dip area of the structure and assessing additional reservoirs not present in the areas where the previous wells were located.
However, additional data from those wells suggest that further site preparations will be needed before the rig can be moved to site, hence the delay.
NJOM3 well will feature various measurement and logging tools and DST flows to surface. Tower then intends to suspend the well followed by a completion as one of four initial producers on the structure.
The planned first-phase development would target 18 MMbbl of 2C contingent resources.
