LONDON – nVent Electric has introduced the nVent RAYCHEM ArcticStep modular panel system, designed to provide protection against ice for platforms, vessel walkways and deck surfaces in the oil and gas and marine markets.

The system, which incorporates self-regulating heat-tracing cables, is said to feature a unique hybrid structure that minimizes heat loss and energy consumption.

Other features are a metallic plate and fiber-reinforced polymer supports, with galvanic and thermal insulation from the deck surface to ensure system longevity; integrated cable channels claimed to protect power supply cables from mechanical damage; and a protective anti-slip coating to lessen the risk of slips or falls.

ArcticStep is approved for use in hazardous areas and is said to be fully compliant with latest international standards such as DNVGL-OS-A201 and DNVGL-RU-SHIP Pt.6 Ch.6 for use in winterized basic, cold and polar conditions.
