MELBOURNE, AustraliaMelbana Energy says fasttrack processed data has been delivered from last August’s Beehive 3D seismic survey offshore northern Australia.

The final dataset should follow soon. According to the company, imaging is much improved compared to the existing 2D data-set, leading to better definition of the potentially giantBeehive prospect.

ThePolarcus Naila acquired roughly 700 sq km (270 sq mi) of seismic over Beehive and the Egret lead in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, 225 km (140 mi) southwest of Darwin. The main aims were to de-risk Beehive and firm up a location for the Beehive-1 exploration well.

Santos operated the survey and shared the funding with Total. Both companies have an option that can be exercised jointly or individually to take an 80% interest in the WA-488-P permit in return for funding all costs until completion of the Beehive-1 well.

Beehive is close to the Ichthys and Blacktip field infrastructure.
