OSLO, NorwayPGS’ new triple-source multi-client 3D survey in the Andaman basin offshore Indonesia should improve understanding of current Miocene carbonates and Miocene/Pliocene clastics plays, the company claims.

It should also provide greater clarity on the untested deeper syn-rift play.

ThePGS Apollo, equipped with multi-sensor GeoStreamer technology, is the acquisition vessel.

A triple-source configuration is being deployed with a view to improving acquisition efficiency; shot overlap will be mitigated, PGS added, through randomized shot firing times, followed by de-blending with iterative inversion.

Data will be available for viewing later this year.
