Polarcus, SAE join forces for offshore Middle East seismic survey

Dubai Petroleum Establishment has contracted Polarcus to conduct a combined towed streamer and ocean bottom node 3D seismic acquisition and processing program in the Middle East.

DUBAI, UAE – Dubai Petroleum Establishment has contracted Polarcus to conduct a combined towed streamer and ocean bottom node (OBN) 3D seismic acquisition and processing program in the Middle East.

Operations will start in 1Q 2019 and continue for around three months, with theVyacheslav Tikhonov (ex-Polarcus Selma) acquiring the towed streamer seismic. Currently the vessel is on a bareboat charter to Sovcomflot’s seismic division.

SAE Exploration will be responsible for the OBN acquisition services.

Polarcus COO Lars Oestergaard said the combination of towed streamer seismic project and the undershoot OBN component was designed to address imaging challenges in obstructed areas.
