Russia approves offshore route for Nord Stream 2

ZUG, SwitzerlandNord Stream 2 AG has secured permission to install an underwater pipeline for the Nord Stream 2 gas project in Russia’s territorial waters.

Russia’s Federal Agency for the Supervision of Natural Resources Use (Rosprirodnadzor) issued the permit, which covers 114-km (71-mi) subsea section of the route through the Baltic Sea.

Practical implementation of the project under the terms of the new authorization will start shortly, taking into account environmental considerations.

The Ministry of Construction and Utilities previously issued a construction permit for the Nord Stream 2 pipeline on the Russian territory.

All the permits necessary for construction of the Russian section of the pipeline have now been received.
