Statoil awards Huldra contracts

Statoil has awarded two new contracts for the removal, disposal, and recycling of the Huldra platform on the Norwegian continental shelf.

STAVANGER, NorwayStatoil has awarded two new contracts for the removal, disposal, and recycling of the Huldra platform on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Hereema Marine Contractors Nederland SE will remove the platform and transport it to shore, while AF Offshore Decom AS will dispose and recycle the platform.

It is expected that more than 95% of the platform will be recycled, Statoil said.

Previously theWest Epsilon jackup had been contracted for plugging the six wells at Huldra during 2016.

According to the operators, the plan is to remove the Huldra platform during 2019 with the subsequent disposal and recycling work taking place at AF Offshore Decom’s environmental base in Vats, Norway, within the first half of 2020.

The field came onstream in November 2001, and gas and condensate production was shutdown in September 2014.
