Diamond Offshore secures contracts from bp, Serica

bp has extended its contract for Diamond Offshore's BlackLion drillship in the Gulf of Mexico, and Serica will use a semisub for P&A work in the North Sea.

HOUSTONbp has extended its contract for Diamond Offshore Drilling’s BlackLion ultradeepwater drillship in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The two-year extension will start in September, in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract, adding about $350 million to Diamond Offshore’s contract backlog.

In the UK North Sea, Serica Energy will use Diamond Offshore’s Ocean Patriot semisub for plug and abandonment of two wells with the 60-day program set to get underway in March 2024. Estimated value is about $10 million.
