SINGAPORE – Strategic Marine will construct a 40-m (131-ft) fast crew boat for Blue Petra Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Great Ocean Supply & Services in Malaysia.
Great Ocean is a licensed Petronas contractor. The vessel is due to be delivered this summer.
Features will include a remote-controlled water monitor with a capacity of 1,200 cu m/hr for external fire-fighting and safety standby duties; three Caterpillar C32 engines driving fixed-pitch propellors; a tunnel thruster at the bow to support station-keeping and maneuvering.
The aft deck will have a clear area of 120 sq m (1,291 sq ft) with a deck strength of 2t/sq m. The vessel cargo fuel capacity is 70 cu m (2,472 cu ft) and cargo freshwater capacity 30 cu m (1,059 cu ft), allowing for extended operations at sea.
