DUBAI, UAEDrydocks World Dubai has started the conversion of an Aframax tanker to a floating storage and offloading (FSO) unit for Perenco subsidiary Dixstone.

The modification/life extension work will include a new hull coating to allow the FSO vessel Pargo to achieve 20 years of uninterrupted service for offshore operation.

Other activities comprise fabrication and installation of an external turret for weather waning, helideck fabrication and integration, a metering skid installation, modification to a cargo system, and installation of a hose reel and crane.

Recently Drydocks World started a digital transformation project to deliver operational efficiencies. According to CEO Capt Rado Antolovic, this will make staff “better equipped to do their jobs by working with real-time data, integrative platforms, and improved knowledge-sharing that will enable them to focus on the areas of their expertise.”

The ultimate client is Perenco Petroleo e Gas do Brasil.

In addition, Drydocks World is developing the 70,000-sq m (753,474-sq ft) ‘South Yard,’ an investment targeting increased fabrication capacity with a new load-out facility for heavy structures.
