LUXEMBOURG Woodside Energy has contracted Subsea7 to perform subsea installations for the ultradeepwater Trion oil development 180 km offshore Mexico.

Trion is 30 km south of the Mexico/US border in 2,600 m water depth.

Woodside and partner Pemex’s plans include a wet tree subsea system connected to an infield floating production unit (FPU). Subsea7 will manage engineering, construction and installation of the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF), and the associated subsea architecture.

Project management and engineering will take place from the company’s offices in the US and Mexico with the offshore phase set for 2026-2027.
