Valaris gets long-term drillship assignment in US Gulf of Mexico

Occidental subsidiary Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has contracted two Valaris drillships for work in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Occidental subsidiary Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has contracted the VALARIS DS-16 drillship for a 940-day program for work in the US Gulf of Mexico. This contract extension begins in June 2026.

The company also secured a new 914-day contract with Occidental for VALARIS DS-18, also in the US Gulf. This is set to begin during fourth-quarter 2026.

The two contract wins, which were announced by Valaris on July 6, have an estimated value of about $760 million.

Valaris President and CEO Anton Dibowitz said, “We’ve secured approximately $1.9 billion in new contract backlog so far this year…”
