Velesto inks offshore drilling contracts for three jackup rigs

Malaysian offshore drilling rig contractor Velesto Drilling has received three notices of assignments related to a drilling contract award with Petronas first announced in March.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia  Velesto Drilling Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Velesto Malaysian Ventures Sdn Bhd, has received three notice of assignments related to the contract for the provision of jackup drilling rigs for PCSB, a wholly owned subsidiary of E&P company Petroliam Nasional Berhad.

The contract is for the provision of services of the NAGA 3, NAGA 4 and NAGA 6 jackups, with an estimated combined contract value of $128 million.

NAGA 3 is a premium independent-leg cantilever jackup rig with drilling depth capability of 30,000 ft and has a rated operating water depth of 350 ft. It will service an estimated eight firm wells. 

NAGA 4 is a premium independent-leg cantilever jackup rig with drilling depth capability of 30,000 ft and has a rated operating water depth of 400 ft. The contract is for four firm wells plus an option of one well.

NAGA 6 is a premium independent-leg cantilever jackup rig with drilling depth capability of 30,000 ft and has a rated operating water depth of 375 ft. It will service six firm wells.

All three jackup contracts begin in third-quarter 2023.
