Global Infrastructure Partners has formed Skyborn Renewables, previously known as wpd offshore, after closing a transaction for the business first announced in May.

HAMBURG, Germany  Global Infrastructure Partners has formed Skyborn Renewables, previously known as wpd offshore, after closing a transaction for the business first announced in May.

The assets include interests in five operating and under-construction projects in Germany, France and Taiwan as well as more than 30 GW (gross) of offshore wind projects in various stages of development.

Over the past 20 years, the company has developed about 7 GW, with a presence in 15 European and APAC markets. Its capabilities are said to span the entire offshore wind value chain, including greenfield development, engineering and design, procurement, financing, construction management and asset management.

Achim Berge Olsen is the CEO of Skyborn, with support from co-COO Thomas Karst and CTO Lars Muck.

Global Infrastructure Partners is an independent infrastructure targeting investments in the energy, transport, digital infrastructure and water/waste sectors.
