ABERDEEN, UK – Offshore personnel employed by Sparrows Offshore Services have called off planned strike action on bp-operated installations in the UK North Sea and west of Shetland after accepting an extra three weeks paid leave.

According to Unite the Union, the deal is equivalent to a 10% pay rise.

The crane operatives and maintainers, lifting personnel and deck crew work on the Andrew, Clair, Clair Ridge, ETAP, Glen Lyon and Mungo facilities.

The agreement also will implement the 2022 pay rise across all elements of their wages, terms and conditions, and introduces overtime at time and a half for hours worked above the normal 12-hour shift.

However, a separate dispute over pay and conditions involving about 150 Unite members employed by Sparrows on over 20 other UK oil and gas platforms remains unresolved. The operators include Apache, Shell and Harbour Energy.
