STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor and Polenergia have chosen Siemens Gamesa as their preferred supplier of wind turbine generators for the MFW Bałtyk II and MFW Bałtyk III wind farms offshore Poland.

Siemens Gamesa will supply its SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines to cover the maximum combined capacity (1,440 MW) of the two projects.

The direct drive turbines have a 14 MW nominal power and can each attain up to 15 MW capacity via the Power Boost feature.

The number of machines to be delivered will be determined at a later phase of the development on completion of the final turbine supply/service and warranty agreements.

MFW Bałtyk II and III are in the Baltic Sea, 27 and 40 km (16.8 and 25 mi) from Łeba, where Equinor has acquired a plot for its future operations and maintenance base port.

A final investment decision for the projects is planned for 2024, with the first power delivered to the Polish grid in 2027.
