Egypt awards offshore exploration licenses

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has issued four exploration areas to various companies under the latest international bid round staged by EGAS.

CAIRO, Egypt  The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has issued four exploration areas to various companies under the latest international bid round staged by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. (EGAS).

According to reports, Eni gained rights to two areas in the Mediterranean Sea, with another Mediterranean area awarded to a partnership between Eni, bp and QatarEnergy.

Russia’s Zarubezhneft gained the other offshore area in the Nile Delta. Combined commitments are said to include a minimum of 12 wells during the exploration phases.
