PERTH, AustraliaWoodside has opted not to sell its interests in the Macedon and Pyrenees fields offshore Western Australia, following discussions with Jadestone Energy.

Macedon remains a critical source of gas to the local domestic market, Woodside said, and the company sees further value ahead in both fields.

Following its discovery in 1992, 75 km west of Onslow, Macedon has been developed via subsea wells with production sent through a pipeline to a gas treatment plant close to Onslow. From there the gas is transferred via a 67-km pipeline into the Dampier to Bunbury natural gas pipeline system.

Pyrenees is an oil field extending across three permits in the Exmouth sub-basin, 45 km northwest of Exmouth, and produced through the MODEC-supplied FPSO Pyrenees Venture
