Offshore India giants team up for Saurashtra exploration block

Saurashtra Basin offshore western India

Reliance Industries, ONGC and BP Exploration (Alpha) have entered a joint operating agreement for an exploration block offshore western India, according to a July 29 Reliance news release.

Block GS-OSHP-2022/2 is in the Saurashtra Basin.

The concession was awarded under India’s Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy.

"Offshore Saurashtra the shelf extends much less than its average extension on the western offshore (i.e., 160 km). The shelf break also occurs at a water depth of 200 m itself. The seabed physiography is that of moderately to steeply sloping shelf followed by steep shelf break," according to India's National Data Repository, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons.
