Malaysia opens 2023 lease round

Petronas has opened the Malaysia Bid Round 2023, with 10 exploration blocks and two clusters of discovered resource opportunities on offer.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia  Petronas has opened the Malaysia Bid Round 2023 (MBR 2023), with 10 exploration blocks and two clusters of discovered resource opportunities (DRO) on offer.

Representatives of more than 50 oil and gas companies attended the presentation “Winning the Energy Transition with our Advantaged Energy.”

The 10 blocks are in the producing Malay, Sabah and Sarawak basins and the newly opened Penyu Basin. They cover various geological play settings.

Also in the line-up are the Chenang DRO cluster offshore Peninsular Malaysia and the Bambazon DRO cluster offshore, both in shallow water and close to established production hubs.

The MBR 2023 virtual data room will remain open until bids close on Sept. 15, 2023.

In addition, Petronas has signed production sharing contracts for nine exploration blocks made available:
