Offshore Ghana partnership strengthens OCTP gas processing capacity
Eni Ghana and its partners in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) permit offshore Ghana, Vitol and Ghana National Petroleum Corp., have completed an upgrade of the existing non-associated gas system.
This has increased processing capacity from 246 MMcf/d to 270 MMcf/d.
The OCTP project, which started operations in August 2018, supplies about 34% of Ghana’s domestic needs for electric power, Eni said. The upgrade also lessens the country’s dependence on oil-fueled power generation.
The Sankofa Main/East and Gye Nyame fields, 60 km offshore western Ghana produce via wells and subsea systems connected to the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor. At startup in 2017, Eni estimated in-place resources at 500 MMbbl of oil and 270 MMboe of non-associated gas.
A 63-m subsea pipeline transports the gas to the Sanzule Onshore Receiving Facilities to undergo processing and delivery to Ghana’s national grid.
