OSLO, Norway – PetroNor E&P has issued an update on its exploration plans offshore Guinea-Bissau.
In early May, the company acquired SPE Guinea Bissau from Svenska Petroleum Exploration, assuming operatorship of the offshore Sinapa (block 2) and Esperança (blocks 4A and 5A) licenses.
The current phase for both licences has recently been extended for three years to Oct. 2, 2023.
They contain two Cretaceous shelf edge prospects, Atum and Anchova, directly analogous to the on-trend Sangomar field to the north off Senegal. Both prospects were mapped on 3D seismic acquired by Polarcus in 2016.
Svenska had planned to drill the Atum-1X well before running into delays gaining partner approvals due to the disputed presidential elections in late 2019/early 2020. However, long-lead items for drilling operations have been secured and various pre-drill studies completed, so well planning can re-start at short notice.
Recently reprocessed seismic data will be interpreted as part of the evaluation of both licenses and in preparation for drilling.
