Equinor has authorization from the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) to install a new connection point on the Snøhvit gas pipeline in the Barents Sea offshore northern Norway.
Snøhvit is a gas and condensate field northwest of Hammerfest in Northern Norway. The Hammerfest LNG plant onshore the island of Melkøya receives and processes the natural gas from Snøhvit through a 143-km pipeline from the Barents Sea.
Equinor has authorization from the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) to install a new connection point on the Snøhvit gas pipeline in the Barents Sea offshore northern Norway.
This will enable future connection of produced gas exported from the Goliat Field for delivery to the Hammerfest LNG complex on Melkoya Island.
Operator Equinor plans a hot tap connection, allowing connection to the Snøhvit gas pipeline without the need for a shutdown.

Elsewhere in the Norwegian sector, Havtil has given Equinor, Vår Energi, Aker BP, ConocoPhillips and Gassco approvals to conduct manned underwater operations this year at various facilities and pipeline systems, including subject to Norwegian jurisdiction on foreign shelves.
Finally, Havtil has confirmed consent for the Equinor-led Northern Lights joint venture to use multiple offshore facilities for CO2 injection.
That includes subsea equipment, wells 31/5-A-7 AH (main injector) and 31/5-C-1 H (emergency well), pipelines and injection systems with associated control and safety functions, and control cables and related modifications on the Oseberg Field center.
