MUMBAI -- Cairn India has completed a 4D seismic campaign over the Ravva offshore field in Eastern India’s Krishna-Godavari basin. The aim is to identify bypassed oil zones and possible infill well locations.

During Q1 2010, Ravva average production of 28,871 b/d of oil and gas at 49 MMcf/d. The field’s original recoverable crude reserves estimate was 101 MMbbl, but to date it has generated over 225 MMbbl.

Following a review of Ravva’s remaining potential, Cairn has upgraded proved and probable reserves by 20% to 72 MMboe, and the company is confident of producing more oil from the surrounding block.

It adds that Ravva’s direct operating cost per barrel is one of the world’s lowest, the result, it claims, of life cycle planning, continuous monitoring, and application of innovative technologies.

Offshore Sri Lanka, subsidiary company Cairn Lanka currently is processing 1,750 sq km (676 sq mi) of 3D seismic data over license SL 2007-01-001. This work is due to be completed within a few months.

A metocean study is under way in preparation for drilling of three exploration wells, with the program due to start in 2Q 2011.
