TEHRAN – Iran Offshore Oil Co. (IOOC) aims to boost production from the Hormozgan province of the Persian Gulf.

The company’s MD, Mahmood Zirakchian zadeh, said there were strong prospects for further discoveries in the Persian Gulf, in addition to established fields such as South and North Pars, Golshan, and Ferdosi.

Further offshore development projects, he claimed, could boost the country’s gas output by almost 10 bcf/d.

According to the report by Iran’s Petroenergy Information Network (Shana), IOOC decided to invest in new gas fields last year.

Zirakchain zadeh added that Iran was in talks to export supplies to various countries in the region, including Bahrain, UAE and Kuwait.

Another state-owned entity, National Iranian Drilling Co., said it had recently put into operation its 57th offshore drilling rig, Fath 21.
