Dana chasing further gas off Nile Delta

ABERDEEN, UK -- Exploration drilling is under way on the Papyrus prospect in the West El Burullus concession in Egypt’s offshore Nile Delta region. Operator Dana Petroleum is targeting gas at a similar horizon to that encountered in the West El Burullus-1 discovery earlier this year.

Dana expects to complete the well around year-end. Its main aim is to prove additional gas volumes in the area in order to optimize development planning.

An exploratory well on the much larger Bamboo prospect should be spud directly after the Papyrus well has been completed. This will target deeper, higher-pressure gas reservoirs which could open up further prospectivity in the block.
