ASKER, Norway -- TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co. is conducting its third Wide Azimuth (WAZ) 3D survey in the Constitution series of projects in the Gulf of Mexico.

The newest survey, named Justice, adds more than 7,800 sq km (3,012 sq mi) of WAZ coverage to the company’s portfolio. The project is a northeast expansion of the existing and contiguous Freedom and Liberty projects. Justice will cover portions of the Mississippi Canyon, Viosca Knoll, and De Soto Canyon areas.

TGS has contracted WesternGeco to perform the seismic acquisition beginning in December. Data acquisition will incorporate two streamer vessels and two source vessels deploying 20 streamers and four sources.

Unlike the Freedom and Liberty projects, which were conducted under a cooperation agreement with WesternGeco, TGS will be the sole owner of the Justice survey.

Upon completion of the project, TGS will have more than 27,000 sq km (10,424 sq mi) of GoM WAZ 3D available for licensing.
