TRONDHEIM, Norway -- Det norske and Norse Cutting & Abandonment Norway (NCA) have cut and removed a wellhead from a vessel instead of a rig, a first on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The operations set a world record by using the technology at a water depth of 270 m (886 ft), the company says. The previous record was 141 m (462 ft).
