SUGAR LAND, Texas -- Preliminary results from an oil seeps study of Hyperdynamics’ 31,000-sq mi (80,290-sq km) oil and gas concession offshore Guinea are encouraging, the company says.
The study surveyed projected oil seepage sites in three areas of the concession. Hyperdynamics has contracted GeoMark Research to perform the analytical work on the samples collected from the offshore sampling and previously conducted onshore studies.
“The samples from this survey could help to confirm the existence of multiple active hydrocarbon systems,” says Ray Leonard, president and CEO of Hyperdynamics. “We are especially encouraged by the fact that the survey was able to confirm oil slicks identified by satellite imagery, and in some cases, trace them back to their subsurface origin.”
