NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana ? The US Minerals Management Service Gulf of Mexico Region has issued a new notice to operators regarding deepwater (more than 400 m, or 1,312 ft) ROV surveys.

To verify that existing requirements and mitigations are sufficient, the MMS now requires acquisition of ROV surveys both before and after certain oil and gas operations in the GoM. Specific requirements are detailed click here.

The new instructions are part of the GoM OCS Region's strategy to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act on compliance for postlease activities and aims to assess any local impact on benthic communities near any well or template.
