Greatship orders two construction support vessels

MUMBAI, India -- Greatship (India) Ltd. (GIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., has ordered two state-of-the-art construction support vessels from Colombo Dockyard Ltd. These multi-purpose supply vessels (MPSV)/ROV support vessels are due for delivery in September 2010 and January 2011.

The vessels are designed both for operating as advanced platform supply vessels (PSV), with enhanced accommodation (50 beds), DP-2 capability, as well as ROV support, and are prepared for 50-metric ton (55-ton) active heave compensated cranes, 50-metric ton A-frames, and helidecks.

GIL currently owns and operates three PSVs, two in India and one in the North Sea, and two anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTSV), one in India, and one in the Middle East. GIL and its subsidiaries also have an order book of 16 vessels and one rig under construction ? two PSVs in Norway, two AHTSVs in Sri Lanka, four AHTSVs in Batam, four MPSVs in Singapore, two MSVs in India, two MPSVs in Sri Lanka, and a premium 350-ft (107-m) jackup in Singapore.
