ABERDEEN, UK -- Centrica is looking to develop the Seven Seas gas accumulation in the UK southern North Sea via a platform in the area, according to consultants CSL.

The company has contracted CSL for subsea studies on this project and the Grove Extension ? both part of a package of interests Centrica acquired recently from Newfield Petroleum UK.

Grove Extension involves two single well tie-backs to the Grove platform in block 49/10, both incorporating a 6-in. (15.2 cm) pipeline and a controls umbilical. Subsea controls will be provided via a direct hydraulic system, says CSL.

The control equipment for Seven Seas, however, will be a much more complex, electro-hydraulic system, which will also have to be adapted to meet the needs of the host platform control equipment.

CSL expects to remain part of Centrica's project team, and to oversee the subsea engineering, procurement, construction and installation and controls work-scope through to the start of production.
