EDINBURGH, Scotland – CNR and FoundOcean have installed a series of fabric formwork pipeline supports in the Baoab field offshore Cote d’Ivoire, in 1,230 m (4,035 ft) of water.

This is an industry record, the companies say. Prior to this project the maximum documented depth for ROV deployed grout bags was less than 1,000 m (3,281 ft). CNR provided the marine spread and ROV services for the project, while FoundOcean supplied the pipeline support formworks, deployment system, and grout mixing equipment.

“This is the first time we’ve operated at such depths,” says Jim Bell, MD of FoundOcean. “The project was successful, and this technology increases the options for supporting pipelines in fields that have previously been inaccessible due to water depth.”
