HOUSTON -- Brazilian national oil company Petrobras is getting closer to finalizing the details for its planned tender of offshore drilling rigs and production platforms, company officials told reporters.

Petrobras CFO Almir Barbassa said the company is in the “final phase of the concession process,” according to local media reports.

Required local content and costs are key considerations, he said. Petrobras in 2008 announced it would tender 40 new rigs and platforms to local shipyards. Of these, 28 remain untendered, although Petrobras has stated that the delay will not impact drilling and production schedules.
