Offshore staff
QUEENSLAND, Australia -- The semisub Ocean Patriot has drilled the Somerset 1 well, offshore Tasmania, to an initial depth of 1,284 m (4,213 ft). Operator Woodside Energy is now preparing to cement a 13 3/8-in. (34-cm) casing. The well has a planned total depth of 3,305 m (10,843 ft).
The planned vertical well’s primary objectives are sandstones within the Late Cretaceous Sherbrook group. Following the evaluation program, the well will be plugged and abandoned.
