Russia confirms Kara Sea Pobeda discovery

Rosneft says Russia’s State Commission on reserves has confirmed an oil and gas discovery in the Pobeda field on the Kara Sea shelf.

Jet pumps, water injection drive performance gains in offshore Turkmenistan wells

The Cheleken block in the eastern section of the Caspian Sea off Turkmenistan, has been producing commercially since 1972. In November 1999, Dragon Oil was awarded a production-sharing agreement for redevelopment of the block. The concession comprises two main fields, known as Dzheitune (or Lam) and Dzhygalybeg (or Zhdanov), in water depths ranging from 8-42 m (26-138 ft).

Caspian Sea operators advance respective development projects

Over the last few years, the Caspian Sea littoral states, former republics of the Soviet Union, have considerably intensified their work on the Caspian shelf. For some, these resources are the basis of national well-being and help meet their budget needs. For others, Caspian Sea development provides a welcome addition to oil and gas supplies as development of conventional fields becomes more complicated and less fruitful.

Concrete drilling platform could extend exploration season offshore northern Russia

Finding ways of extending the exploration drilling season in Russia's ice-laden Arctic waters is a key issue both for Russian oil companies and the international oil companies working with them in joint ventures. One concept they are considering is Kvaerner's CONDRILL relocatable concrete-base drilling platform. So far Kvaerner has performed various pre-front-end engineering and design studies for a number of Russia-based clients.

Oil confirmed from Kara Sea well

TomskNIPIneft Institute has completed studies of oil samples from the Universitetskaya-1 discovery well, recently drilled by Rosneft and ExxonMobil in the Kara Sea offshore northern Russia.
