OMV spuds exploration well in Maari area offshore New Zealand

The semisubmersible Kan Tan IV has spudded the Whio-1 exploration well for operator OMV New Zealand in the PEP 51313 permit.

AWE completes P&A

AWE Ltd., as operator of Petroleum Mining Permit 38158 offshore Taranaki, New Zealand, reports that P&A operations for the Oi-1 and Oi-2 exploration wells are complete and that the Kan Tan IV drill rig was released on July 19.

Phoenix South-1 begins drilling side track

Carnarvon Petroleum Ltd says the Phoenix South-1 well has begun drilling a side track wellbore. On July 7, the well was drilling ahead at 1,960 m (6,430 ft) on the way to the 9-5/8-in. casing point of 3,700 m (12,139 ft).

 

AWE says Oi-2 unsuccessful

AWE Ltd, as operator of Petroleum Mining Permit 38158 offshore Taranaki, New Zealand, reports that the Oi-2 exploration well reached TD at 3,908 m (12,822 ft) on July 7, intersecting primary target Kapuni F10 sands and underlying secondary targets.

Woodside discovers gas at Toro

Woodside Petroleum Ltd’s Toro-1 exploration well in permit WA-430-P has intersected 150 m (492 ft) of gross gas and 65 m (213 ft) of net gas within the Mungaroo formation target.
