STAVANGER, Norway – OMV Norge will use the Helgeland Base in Sandnessjøen to provide supply/logistics services to support exploration drilling on the Velocette prospect in the Norwegian Sea, with the base in Brønnøysund providing helicopter transport.
The well location is about 300 km west of Sandnessjøen and 50 km southeast of the Equinor-operated Aasta Hansteen Field. The semisub Transocean Norge should start drilling operations in late summer. Startup is expected in late summer this year.
Parent company OMV has renewed CGG’s contract to operate a dedicated center at its head office in Vienna, initially for three years.
CGG will perform seismic imaging and reservoir characterization, also providing geoscience capability to support carbon capture and storage developments.
