Fugro receives Petrobras contract

Offshore staff

LEIDSCHENDAM, Netherlands -- Fugro Brazil, with vessel owners Sealion Shipping, has received a three-year contract from Petrobras for inspection, repair, and maintenance work in Santos and Campos basins, north of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The project is expected to begin in September 2008. The contract totals approximately $137 million.

Fugro will operate the diving support vessel Toisa Sentinel with an 18-man, 350- m (1,148-ft) saturation dive system and two ROVs, one for up to 3,000 m (9,843 ft) of water and one for up to 1,500 m (4,921 m) of water.

The ROVs are used to monitor divers and to carry out inspection, repair and maintenance works in waters up to 3,000 m (9,843 ft).

Fugro has operated with Sealion Shipping onboard the Toisa Sentinel for many years, performing dives in water depths up to 350 m (1,148 ft) without incident, according to Fugro.
